B&B
Introduction
Oakhurst is a seven
bedroom Bed and Breakfast. We are very keen to offer customer
service above and beyond what would be expected, our staff have
excellent knowledge and experience with Gatwick airport and
surrounding areas. For anyone on there own or with restricted
mobility we go out of our way to make life as easy as possible when
visiting us.
Pre-Arrival
We have a free minibus
running to and from the airport from 06:00 to 22:00hrs.
Gatwick rail and coach
stations are very close and we can transfer you to and from there in
our bus.
We are also on a local
bus route which runs from our door to Crawley and connecting
services.
If you are driving
please print the directions from our website or use the directions
in our brochure.
The nearest shops are
four miles away but we do have three local public
houses.
We can book a taxi for
you with an average fare of £6.
We have a very friendly
dog but are happy to put her in her room if you are not
comfortable.
Arrival &
Car Parking Facilities
Guests requiring
transport from the airport should call us from the hotel courtesy
coach bus stop and we will collect as soon as
possible.
Oakhurst has a wide flat
gravel driveway with ample parking and an access ramp to the front
door.
Tea and coffee are
offered on arrival and can be served in your room or in the
lounge.
Assistance with luggage
is always offered to all guests
Outside lighting is
bright and turns on automatically.
Long term parking is
available and is on site to the side and rear of the
house.
Main Entrance
& Reception
The
entrance is into a hallway with a check in desk. This is accessed by
a concrete ramp with a 3cm drop onto a door mat and then carpet. The
front door has a digital lock for out of hour’s
access

- General (Internal)
Guest dining room has
wooden floor into fitted carpets in the hallway. A 14 step steep
staircase leads to the six upstairs guest bedrooms. Bathrooms are
all tiled. The lounge area has two large two seater sofas sky
television and tea can be served here on
arrival.

Guest bedrooms are en
suite with one additional W.C. in the central corridor on the
landing, but no downstairs toilets.
Dining Room
& Lounge,
Breakfast is served in
the breakfast room on the ground floor.
Furniture is flexible and
can be moved on request.
We do not play background music in any
area of the B&B
Full waitress service is
available.
Vegetarian, gluten free and all other diets catered
for but you will need to let us know in advance.
The bed and
breakfast is no smoking throughout the
premises.
Bedrooms
All
en suite bedrooms have a fully tiled bathroom with a 900mm by 900mm
shower tray. Anti slip mats are provided as are bath mats. The
showers are thermostatically controlled with a high flow pump and
adjustable outlet. Towels, soap, shower gel, hairdryers, iron +
board and a well stocked hospitality tray are also in all an-suite
rooms.
Bedroom
one is located on the ground floor. It is a twin bedded en suite
room with level access. The beds are two three foot standard
singles. A digital television is provided with 35 or more channels.
The floor is laminate.
Bedroom
two is on the first floor and has a standard double and a single
bed. We recommend no one older than 16 uses the single bed as it is
partially in an alcove. A digital television is provided with 35 or
more channels. The floor is short pile carpet.
Bedroom
three is on the first floor and has a standard double bed. This is a
very quiet room looking out over the rear garden. A digital
television is provided with 35 or more channels. The floor is
laminate.
Bedrooms
4,5 & 7 are all small single rooms on the first floor. They
share a bath / shower room and all have colour remote control
televisions hospitality trays and hairdryers. There is also a second
toilet. All have laminate flooring.
Room
6 has a standard double, a single and a pair of bunk beds which have
standard single mattresses. A colour plasma TV and DVD player is
provided and has a good sized shower room. The floor is laminate
with rugs,
All
of our bedrooms are cleaned to an exceedingly high standard. They
all have maple coloured furniture and are of an extremely bright and
modern feel.
Grounds and
Gardens
The
garden has a large decked seating area, lawns, a small pond and a
field to the rear. We don’t mind a kick around with a football and
kids are welcome to play with the dogs which are gentle and very
well natured. Access to the deck is through the dining room and
there is a 60mm raised step. Access to the lawn is down three decked
steps.
Additional
information.
There
are fire extinguishers on the landing and in the entrance hall. In
the event of a fire the alarm will sound. Please make you way to the
front lawn through the front door. If you find a fire please break
the glass on one of the alarm points by the check in desk and on the
first floor landing. Mobile phone service is good except for
t-mobile.

Future
Plans
We
are about to submit plans for a large disabled room downstairs. This
will have a full disabled bathroom with very wide and easy access.
At the same time our lounge and dining room will be improved
removing all steps at the entry points and ramped access to the back
lawn. We will also add two new en-suite rooms on the first floor.
Estimated mid 2009 subject to planning consent.
